Modifing colors on an existing theme
(1/1)
Alan Tochterman:
Good Morning:
I am sure that this question has come up in the past. But . .
I picked a theme that I really like and works perfectly on one of my RockBoxed iPods.
I have another iPod that I would like to use the same theme on, but would like to use a slightly different color scheme.
How difficult is it for a novice to modify an existing theme ?
I know how to change fonts, just not colors.
p.s. The theme was created back in 2008 and I am not even sure that the author is still participating in RockBox.
Frankenpod:
Entirely depends on the theme. If it uses bitmaps you could probably just edit them in an art program and change the colours. If it uses 'fill' primitives or something you would have to edit the wps/sbs/cfg files to change the colours it uses. Might have to do a combination of both. Might be able to change some of the colours via the settings menu ('foreground' and 'background' colour).
Alan Tochterman:
Thank you for the reply.
The theme is called AAFreak. It was written back in 2008 and I have not seen any further work or posts from the author. A while back I purchased an orange faceplate for my 5.0 gen. The shade of orange matched the authors colors perfectly.
I plan on modifying a 120gb and Rockboxing it to get around the 128gb limitation. It would be great to change the orange lettering and few symbols on the Now Playing screen to grey to match my case.
Frankenpod:
So you want to change the orange to grey?
The icons in that are coloured bitmaps, so you could change those by opening them in a suitable art program and if it has an option for "adjust saturation" just reduce it till the orange turns grey. To change the text colour change the colour fields in the wps from
--- Code: ---%Vf(FCBE00)
--- End code ---
(orange) to
--- Code: ---%Vf(888888)
--- End code ---
or whatever shade of grey you want.
Alan Tochterman:
Thank you again.
