no signs of life after "committing database 1/9" loop

(1/1)

kazooie:
Hello! I made the mistake of trying the database function on my 6th gen ipod classic itself, and when it got stuck in the "committing database 1/9" loop, I tried plugging it into my laptop, which didn't acknowledge it at all. I used the center + menu buttons to turn the ipod off. Now it won't turn back on at all.

It was at ~60% charge when I did this. I currently have it plugged in to charge just in case but there are no signs of life, no charging screen, nothing. Did I permanently fuck this up? I'm so worried.

Permanently? Probably not, there are lots of troubleshooting options.

Start here perhaps: https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodFAQ.html#Problems_47Troubleshooting_Questions

You should always be able to get to the ‘Disk Mode’ of your iPod and worst case could restore/start over.

Thank you for your response! I had to wait for rockbox to fully shut down I think before I was able to get it on at all. Then I wasn't able to get itunes to even acknowledge the ipod until I uninstalled and reinstalled it from the website rather than the microsoft store it initially pushed me to. I had to restore it, but now rockbox itself won't install. It bottoms out at the very end, says it failed to extract. Each time I try it I need to uninstall and reinstall itunes to get anything to acknowledge the ipod and then restore it all over again.

I really enjoyed having rockbox, I'd like to get it running again but I don't know how. :/ But thank you so much for your help! I'm glad it's not a brick.
