Windows represents storage devices using drive letters. You can check your fize by clicking on the computer icon on your desktop. Then you can tell the installer to install to that device.

If it "doesn't know the mountpoint" none has been assigned to your player. On Windows that's the same as the drive letter. Unless you fix this first using the command line won't succeed either. And once you have that fixed you don't need manual installation anymore.
Switch the player to MTP mode, then it gets a mountpoint assigned.
Also, please don't simply "fix" an issue by going a different, harder route before understanding why things failed.

I used the MSC mode instead, and a drive letter was assigned- the automatic installation worked!
I'm also trying to run a 256gb micro SD card, let me know where I should look to get that working.
Thanks for all your help, it means a lot to me (even though I know you are irritated).
Edit: formatted SD card to FAT32 with diskgenius, success!
