Playback Problem(s) iPod 5.5

Hi all,

Did a bit of searching on this one and couldn't find anything recent or specific enough for my current problem.

I recently modded a 5.5 gen iPod video w/64mb logic board with an upgraded battery and an iFlash Quad with two 512GB MicroSDXC cards from Sandisk. I am running the most recent dev build of Rockbox. Only setting I have changed is disabling USB HID mode.

I managed to get all my music transferred over in disk mode after sorting out a few other issues. Everything is FLAC.

The issue presents itself when listening to an album (from the file browser). Everything starts out fine but about three songs into the album the song will start skipping (dirty/scratched CD skipping, not going to the next track). This also causes the UI to lock up and I am unable to skip to the next track or the previous track. Play/Pause still works but I can not back out to the home menu.

The first time I was able to reboot and try a different album. Same thing happened. I rebooted again and tried a third album. Same issue, same timing. This time when I tried to reboot I got a panic warning and an error code that I unfortunately can't remember off the top of my head. I can try it again later today when I get home.

Any ideas where I could start looking for the culprit based on this info?

Does the iPod do the same thing with other audio formats? LAME/Vorbis etc.

There is some interest lately in testing fixes for these flash adapters so you might want to ask in IRC if you're still getting corruption with the latest dev build.

Okay finally got some time to play around. I tested out some WAV files as well and it appears the issue has changed slightly but not gone away.

I tried several albums through both the file browser and database, WAV and FLAC. I get about 1.5 songs into the album and halfway through the second song playback just quits and I end up back at the home screen. Try to resume playing and it says there's nothing to resume. I tried this on about 4 different albums. Same thing every time. Also happens when shuffling songs.

During the shuffle test I also discovered that I was able to get back to the main menu but it seemingly froze up and wouldn't accept input. Turns out that it was registering the input but taking a very long time for the highlighted option to change. Ended up doing another hard reset.

For reference I'm on version 15a4eb0422-241115.
