Clip install: Utility telling me I need V1 firmware but system info says V2

Just picked up a working Sansa Clip and am trying to install Rockbox. I've installed it on multiple Sansa players in the past so I'm familiar with the software and the utility.

The system info on the player tells me it's firmware V2, so I'm attempting to install Rockbox using V2 firmware. However, the utility is telling me that I need V1 firmware. Any idea what's going on here, because I have had Rockbox on about six different Sansa players in the past and I want it on this one.

Does it already have a .rockbox directory on it? Rockbox Utility believes pre-existing installs over other information.

Does not have Rockbox on it. Is a standard first version Clip running V02.01.35A firmware.
