Album art conversion plugin or menu?

As when looking at https://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,55110.0.html

It occured to me that a lot of my album art doesnt get loaded... read somewhere that some types of PNG or JPG are not recognized by rockbox, etc... and am still to investigate how to make my own conversions, every time i will load new files to my device.

Would it make sense to have a feature, either automated, or in a menu, or via a plugin, to convert images art when it exists into a format that is known to be readable, easy and fast to display?

That would be nice, but if it can be converted it can probably also be displayed.

Decoding unsupported images is the problem and it is needed for both display or conversion.

The main issue is progressive JPG’s (and possibly huge images that take too much memory).

A real computer would be infinitely better at such a task.
