Get 10 or 20 random albums to choose from
(1/1)
jecaro:
I recently bought a 256 Gb SD card and put all my music on my Sansa e280v1. I'm so stocked that it works so well out of the box after all these years and I want to take the opportunity to thank all the devs for this amazing software!
Anyway, now I have this big audio database, it is surprisingly hard to decide what to listen to. A feature that I love about logitech media server (https://lyrion.org/), is that it can show me 10 or 20 random albums from my database and with that I always find something cool to listen to.
Is it possible to do that kind of thing with rockbox as well?
rockbox_dev123:
You could create a m3u playlist of every album and track and play it on shuffle.
jecaro:
That's an idea :)
I thought m3u was only for individual tracks. Is it possible then to have an album as an item in a m3u playlist?
If so that would solve my problem indeed.
jecaro:
I've tried to put directories in an m3u playlist, and it seems that rockbox is unable to read it :'( If I'm missing something here, please, let me know.
I think tagnavi has a feature very close to what I'm trying to achieve:
https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/DataBase.html#tagnavi.config_v2.0_Syntax
if only it were possible to have
%sort = "random"
I think that could work.
Any thoughts on this? I'm also interested to know how users with big databases deal with this.
