Install fails to extract on 4th gen Monochrome (2004)

(1/1)

itsmekevin7:
Hello! I recently took my old 4th gen monochrome ipod and replaced the battery, hard drive, and system board to get it working again and I am trying to get Rockbox 1.5.1 installed onto it. I have restored it to factory using Itunes on windows and attempted to load the Rockbox software a couple of times with no success.

Here are the system traces I see during failure when attempting the install:

I'm fairly new to all this but I have a tech background so if anyone has any suggestions to get this thing back up and running id be very grateful.
My other hard drive that I originally had installed still works and contains all my old music from 2010 but I dont want to mess up that hard drive so I am doing all of this on a completely separate 40GB spinnah

Another point to note: the application was unable to scan for my device because it was too ambiguous for some reason (even though its the only USB drive/iPod connected). So I had to mount it manually, which also took some fiddling around to fix since initially the drop down wasnt giving me any drive letter options.

Attached the Screenshot of the error for your enjoyment. thank you all for your time :)

Is the drive actually writable? Not sure why else creating a file on it would fail.

I was able to get the bootloader installed (or at least I think I was). it shows up briefly when it powers on and when I include it in the install options it says it is already installed.

I think I will try another wipe, format, and go around and see if I have any luck that time
