Good Morning:
If I am in the wrong forum, please advise.
I have a slightly modified iPod 2nd Generation, with a firewire connection issue, that is the perfect candidate for Rockbox. Upon loading the software I discovered that there is no way to turn the unit off while using RockBox. This is a peculiarity in the Apple hardware for this unit. There is nothing wrong with the RockBox code. In and of itself, it is not a big deal, but I am more concerned about potential or eventual image burn onto my screen.
A simple workaround would be to modify the code to allow the screen to turn off, much like the commands for the backlight, only with the screen itself.
Additionally, the software could be changed to replace the auto-off command in the software with automatically turn the screen off. As an aside, I tried using the auto-off command settings as a way to turn it off, but it continually rebooted.
According to my research, these units never of off, even in Apple's operating system. They just go blank when not in use. As I said there is nothing wrong with your code, it is a hardware specific issue with these (and perhaps the 1st gens also).
I know that not too many people use these iPods and I am not sure how much work goes into development and the writing of the code especially when I am asking for something for a specific unit.
Thank you for your time and again, if I am in the wrong place please guide me to where I need to go.
