iRB_Video Battery/Status Bar Text Not Displaying [Solved]

Today I compiled the latest developer version of Rockbox for my iPod Video. When I applied the iRB_Video theme, the status bar went blank; it has a texture, but no battery status or text... The iRB_Classic theme, when applied, has a fully functional status bar, which has working text and icons... How might I modify this theme to add back the intended status bar functionality?

I suggest running the theme through checkwps and see what it complains about.

Another altenative is to run the theme in a uisimulator build with theme debugging enabled.

I don't _think_ it's anything intrinsic to the theme itself.  Just checked and that theme works for me on an ipod video.  Though that's with an older version of RB (checking it, it's 230913).

It's either some glitch with the latest dev version of RB, or maybe (perhaps more likely?) something got corrupted in copying that particular theme to the OP's ipod?

Well I'm pretty certain it's a glitch... I just copied the theme again, and the problem is still present.

I ran checkwps with the -vvv flag (log attached). What types of errors should I be looking for?

Edit: Created a simulator using the same cloned repository, and the status bar works... I have no idea why it's not working on the real hardware.

You need to runc heckwps on the 'sbs' file too, as that's for the actual statusbar...

Nothing looks immediately suspicious to my eyes, when checking the .sbs.

Yes, other themes DO work... Like I mentioned previously, iRB_Classic works just fine... Really quite puzzled as to what might be causing this.

Updated to 240619, and it's still not working properly. I removed all of the theme files, then downloaded/extracted it again. I also realized that the theme's WPS textures aren't applying either- it's just using the failsafe theme.

Is there some weird 5.5gen quirk that might be causing this? I also have an iFlash Quad with a 256gb card, if that changes anything. It's odd that only this theme seems to be having issues.

Maybe some setting specific issue. Did you try this theme with clean rockbox installation?

Well, I made this post immediately after doing a fresh installation... I can try renaming .rockbox to .rockbox.old, then reinstalling.

So it's just falling back to the failsafe and the theme isn't working at all?  Not sure what you are saying is happening, now.

That sometimes happens because a required font is not installed - have you installed the font pack?

  Or it can happen (or at least used to, not sure if it was fixed) if a word is missing in the translations file and the theme uses the translation function in the WPS/SBS.  That would have shown up on my ipod as well though, if that were the problem.

I notice the theme requires 12-Adobe-Helvetica-Bold.fnt.  Which isn't included in the theme becuase it's in the normal font pack.  Do you have that font installed?

TIL there's a font pack... Thank you for the suggestion! Installing the fonts fixed the issue!
It's actually quite shocking this hasn't affected me before.
