Backlight On Hold (via button press)

I found a similar topic from over a decade ago on this without any replies and was surprised its not requested more often..

Curious as to why there's no option to trigger the backlight momentarily for a set number of seconds (or as long as a button is pressed) when the screen is locked. Having to slide the hold switch off and back on to light up the screen also changes the display to a different UI (with my theme I can't see the battery unless I'm on the hold screen for example)

Seems to make sense you'd be able to tap a button and light up the screen for a moment VS having to unlock it entirely, is this an option?

being that your device has a real hold button probably not those tend to disconnect the buttons

on the devices without a physical hold switch do have selective soft lock and it has that feature

I have patched soft lock into a hold switch build for someone before but it probably results in reduced battery life at least to some extent
