iPod Mini 2G Dramatic difference in battery life

Now I have used Rockbox Utility to replace the ipod6g-exp2 version (f042880bb4-240423) with 446496c221-240423 on the Classic and so far all seems good. It does take the iPod about 20 seconds on the "Shutting down..." screen before it actually powers down, but I assume that's to be expected due to the more careful power-related protocols that went into yesterday's dev build.

Hello! Any good news on power management for Mini?
iPodVT:
This morning I updated my iPod mini 2nd Gen (256GB Samsung Pro Plus in an iFlash SD-CF adapter) to the current dev build (afba86f0f7-240603) and synced some new music. When I initialized the DB inorder to rebuild it from scratch the iPod crashed. So I rebooted and again tried to rebuild the DB and it crashed again. So then I reverted to my backup of the dev build that had previously been installed (9d3b012ac0-240513) and was able to successfully rebuild the DB.

I reinstalled my saved installation of the crashing dev build in order to try it again and get a photo of the screen if it crashes again. The iPod booted to the following screen:
Database is not ready
Update Now
SELECT = Yes (03)
Any Other = No
and there it froze and wouldn't respond to any button presses other than the Menu/Select button combo to reboot.
So I rebooted back into the Apple firmware, copied a healthy set of the .tcd database files into the crashing build's .rockbox directory and then rebooted back into Rockbox. This time I got the above "Database is not ready..." screen and the timer played out and put me in the Main Menu screen. So once again I tried to initialize the database and the iPod crashed and I took a photo of the crash screen - see attached.

Seems like that crash could be related to corrupted database files :o I had similar issues with my iPod once. Try deleting the whole rockbox folder (or just the .tcd files if you wanna keep settings) and then reboot. Also make sure you’re running the latest stable build not a dev one bc those can be buggy :-[
