iRiver Slimx iMP350 Can Rockbox Fix FM Tuner?

I'm about to return to eBay an iRiver Slimx iMP-350 I just got Friday because the FM tuner produces ZERO sound.  Just a hiss that I can turn up to a louder hiss.  Apparently, this is a near-universal blemish on these units.

Looking at the "display screen" on the remote, this unit has iRiver's software.  Would replacing this with Rockbox fix the silence?

I already know the headphone cord is the FM antenna.
