I just now used Rockbox Utility to install cb3b5397b3-231124 on my 160GB 7th Gen iPod Classic and am now able to successfully boot, shutdown, and reboot.

Just downloaded the latest dev version, listed as 231124, and the downloaded zip file is labelled as such, but the included rockbox_info.txt file says it's 53a47970e3-231123, and when installed it causes the same hang-on-boot as the previous versions (while the boot screen clearly says 231123)

Gone back to bd93f9f96f-231112 (which appears on the download list as bd93f9f96f-231118, but seems to internally be bd93f9f96f-231112 - not sure I understand this labelling system)

I installed with Rockbox Utility, selecting "Development Version" instead of "Daily Build", from the "Rockbox version to install" drop-down menu.

At the changelogs you can see that after November 12, the next change was only on November 19.
Therefore what you get on November 18 is still the very same version as from November 12.

Ah, OK, never knew that.  So the link on the left side to "dev builds" is not technically "dev builds", it's a "daily build"?  And even if the zip label is different it could potentially be that the actual contents are the same for several successive days?

(The build from the link you give seems to work, and reports itself as b6ce98c55c-231124)
