Shouldn't iPod nano 6 boot with cable only ?

Just found one clearing out my kids junk. Shouldn't it boot or
light up with the cable, even if the battery is completely dead ?

PS- I see it is not Rockbox supported but maybe I can get some $s
for it  ;D
