Official Rockbox builds from older bug-free versions

(1/1)

Carlo:
It seems that older rockbox builds aren't available anymore, even on archive.org, and users have reported glitchiness and stuttering with the recent versions also on the Rockbox subreddit. Given that even the latest version still exhibits the unresolved issues I've already mentioned, would it be reasonable to provide official builds from a january commit that doesn't have the data abort bug nor the sluggishness caused by its 'fix'?

Again, I've been using 00c7817c9c326368c2cd89f1e786584283935c9c from 2023-01-12 ("[BugFix] playlist.c DIRCACHE stop scanning when changing indices") on several devices, both vintage and modern, without any single crash or hiccup.

I'm also willing to provide those builds myself if the devs aren't, as I've already compiled builds for all my devices that work perfectly fine.

You haven't provided any links to specific issues or information on what the issues actually are that you are referring to. FWIW I use my own compiled builds of rockbox (with modifications) and there is no slowdown on my ipod6g that I have noticed.

There have been ~150 commits since 00c7817, so it is possible this issue is already fixed. What is the most recent commit that you have compiled and verified this issue exists on?

In an ideal world, well defined issues would be raised so that developers have the best chance to fix them.

If you can identify specific regressions in commits, then that would be useful.

Is this the first revision with slow loading then?
