Vieta MP1 - Which build to choose - HiFi Walker or Aigo/Eros?

Hello all,

I need a bit of advice to install Rockbox on my Vieta MP1. Its basically a rebranded HiFi Walker H2 or Aigo Eros Q with the same UI. However, the device reports that its firmware version is 2.1 which differs from all the versions listed for the Eros or the HiFi Walker on the Rockbox port page.

I purchased it new-in-box from a second hand shop in Spain and there's very little information online about it. It seems the Vieta brand is an in house one for Hipercor and other retailers in Spain.

I've contacted their support who cannot help with hardware details as the product was discontinued a while ago and personnel have changed.

Is there anything else that I can do to see what the hardware is so I know which port to choose in Rockbox Utility? I don't want to choose the wrong target player and accidentally brick the player upgrading the firmware to the Rockbox patched version.

i forgot to say this is the model of HiFi Walker/Eros with Micro USB.

The odds are high that none of the pre-patched firmware images will be accepted by the Vieta firmware (which probably has its own unique product string) so unless we can get a firmware dump of the Vieta firmware, your only recourse is the native port, which is a bit more work to get going.

(Interestingly, Vieta doesn't seem to list the MP1 on their web site at all)

Thanks for your help. How would I go about getting a firmware dump? I've tried emailing Vieta again to see if they have a copy of the original.

Otherwise I guess the native port would be the way to go forward as you suggest. Is this the correct link?https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/JztoolInstall?

As for their website I've had a look on Archive.org and the player first appears from 2017. Unfortunately the product page itself hasn't been archived.

It seems that somebody is tried to install HiFi Walker H2 firmware on Vieta MP1.

I can now report I've installed successfully using the jztool web installer. So far all seems to be working perfectly.
