Surfans F20 / HIFI WALKER H2 ---> MECHEN M30?

(1/1)

From the outside, it looks like the MECHEN M30 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/MECHEN-Lossless-Resolution-Portable-Player%EF%BC%8CSupport/dp/B0B4NCSPNX/ has ports/controls in the same location as the Surfans F20 / HIFI Walker H2. Does anyone know if it uses the same hardware?

dconrad:
Someone else might have a better idea, but my guess would be no. The buttons are in different locations, and that would mean that it's a different circuit board design. So, who knows what's in there, but I highly doubt it's that similar. If it's on the X1000/hiby platform it could be a candidate for its own port though.

As dconrad has mentioned it's clearly a different PCB, so I did a little bit of digging, and based on the firmware file, it appears that the MECHEN M30 uses some sort of Actions Semiconductor SoC.  It's clearly more capable than the ATJ2127/2157/2167 not-enough-ram-to-get-out-of-their-own-way shovelware series, but anything further is going to require taking one apart and finding documentation on the chips inside.

There are quite a few players using these more capable Actions parts, but meaningful docs on Actions SoCs has been pretty much unobtanium.
