iPod 6gen ATA Error: -2147483637 (HDD noises!)

I was using this iPod with Rockbox... sudenly, it stopped... tried to reset (menu+select)..
does not boot... shows this info

Batery;
ATA Error: -2147483637

how to try to determine if the HDD its still working? or its dead?

Either the ZIF connection to the disk has become detached (due to dropping the iPod or adapters etc.) or the disk is completely dead. It's basically the equivalent of no layer 1 connectivity. In my experience it has always been one or the other.

Thanks for the explanation... I think that its probably dead, but, I will open the case just to see if MAYBE could be detached...
