Quick Screen Question

Is there a way to remove the items from the left and right locations in the Quick Screen so that those locations are empty?  I tried putting "qs left: " and "qs right: " in my config file but that resulted in the default of 'Shuffle' being in the left location and 'Repeat' in the right location.

One can have no items in the top and bottom locations by omitting (or deleting) a reference to them in the config file.  I wonder what the reason is for not having the same implementation for the left and right items?
