How do you use Rockbox

Hi,
I have no idea how to use Rockbox.  We have a 6th generation iPod nano that we used to be able to download music to from itunes on an old Mac.  Stopped working so looking for another tool to use and round Rockbox but not sure if it is compatible with the 6th generation iPod nano and if it is compatible, how to use it.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rockbox does not run on the 6th generation Ipod nano.
