Buggy install on iPod Photo
anonyman:
Hello Brain Trust,
I've installed Rockbox on a 4th generation iPod Photo. The iPod is fine, the Apple firmware works normally, the pod shows as a drive when it's booted from the Apple side.
The Rockbox 3.15 installation appeared to work normally and Rockbox loads up without complaint. However, the iPod no longer shows up as a drive when its booted into Rockbox. Upon disconnect, sometimes Rockbox hangs on the connection screen, other times it panics and the pod needs to be rebooted. Within Rockbox, changing fonts causes things to hang for a while and then revert to the smallest font size--which is then stuck until reboot. The failsafe theme won't load, either.
I've tried uninstalling Rockbox, restoring the pod, and reinstalling Rockbox, but the results are the same. I've tried the daily build, just to see, and the results are also the same. Am I missing something obvious?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Sounds like filesystem errors. Run chkdsk /f or similar on the disk.
saratoga:
Is this the original hard drive?
anonyman:
chkdsk doesn't report anything that looks problematic to my eye.
The pod is running an iFlash solo, which is recognized and working on the Apple side of things.

The current build has workarounds for the iflash devices. 3.15 is too old. Since the contents of the disk are probably scrambled, try reformating or restoring it and then installing with the current build.
