Charging Problem

Hi,

i use my Archos Recorder 20 (with 40GB) since 4 years and most of the time with Rockbox.
Now i have a problem with charging the batteries.

If I plug in the charger the player don't start himself and so he don't charge also if I turn it on and wait a some time nothings happend altthough I can see the charging-animation left above and so I have to change the batteries frequently and charging it outside the box.
If I look at the Debug-Area/View Battery -> Power Status i can find "Charger: Present on"

Now I want to know, wether it is a hardware or software problem and anyone knows this problem?

Sounds like the charging regulator is broken. Which model do you have, V1 or V2/FM?

On most V1 recorders, the charging regulator is called MC34063A and is an 8-pin SMD located close to the Down and Right buttons on the circuit board.
