IPod 6 Classic CRASH
wizard01:
Hi everyone,
I'm newbie, from Italy, sorry for my poor english.
I loaded Rockbox on my IPod Classic and it worked well for some weeks.
Yesterday when I connected it to the PC (Win 10) via USB, I saw on IPod (black) screen:
Rockbox boot loader
Version: 1.0
Battery status ok: 4005 mV
No partition found
Entering USB mode...
Bootloader USB mode
Disconnecting USB the (white) screen shows:
*PANIC*
mount: 0
pc:22021CAC sp:08800b38
bt end
I cannot shut down IPod by pressing and hold Play;
Reset by MENU+Select return the Black screen as above;
I tried to reinstall Rockbox from the begginning and it seems to go but at the end of the process when I disconnect IPod, it runs the same story.
When connected via USB ITunes starts on PC but doesn't show IPod.
Windows Explore Files shows
E:IPod > 41,9MB Used, 22,0MB available. I can also see .rockbox folder. When I tried to format E: in FAT32 it says Impossible to complete.
F:IPod > 896KB Used, 148GB available. FAT32 is not available.
HELP!!!

Nobody? Maybe the wrong place?
Frankenpod:
Can't tell from your description whether you tried to put it into DFU ('recovery') mode.
i.e. connect to computer, then hold down centre-button and menu button, till it starts to reboot, but continue holding them down till iTunes declares it's found an ipod in 'recovery mode'.
Then let iTunes restore the original firmware. Then maybe start again from there with installing rockbox.
If that doesn't work, it might be a failed hard-drive. Or, if you are lucky, just a bad ipod cable.

Thank You very much, Frankepod!
It works, but...
I Followed Rockbox Manual for IPod6, but things don't run as shown.
I try to explain after the original text:
"...As soon as the player resets, press and hold the Select and Play
buttons simultaneously. Your player should enter disk mode and you can try
reconnecting to the computer."
After following instructions my player shows the usual IPod theme with language choice page. I think this is not disk mode, isn't it?
However i tried to install Rockbox. It seems to run but at the end the log shows: "Download file in corso download.php?themeid=3042
Errore durante il download: errore HTTP 0."
Looking on my PC I can see:
USB Unit (E:)
DAN IPOD (F:) (whitout IPod logo)
In E: I can see .rockbox Folder, but Themes Folder doesn't contain Themes I choose during installation.
Note that E: partition is 159MB, so I tried to install Rockbox even in F:, but the result is the same.
Where did I do wrong?
Thank for your time!
Frankenpod:
Apologies but I am having trouble following what you are saying.
Holding down centre button+play button just before it reboots should put it into disk mode. Not sure why you weren't able to make that work.
Also, that error message seems to relate to downloading/installing themes. Have you tried installing rockbox, with just the bootloader and rockbox itself, without selecting any of the boxes for the extra stuff, like themes, fonts and game-files? (You could put those on there later, manually).
