Play once
« on: June 30, 2021, 03:26:00 PM »
I used to use a Fiio X1 player. This one had a playback mode that would make the player stop the playback once it finished the selected track. After idling for a while it would shut down, which was a separate feature. Implementing this should be fairly simple but quite useful if you're listening to a podcast or something.

I think you can already do this by inserting into a new playlist.

Doesn't this do what you want?

Settings -> Playback Settings -> Repeat -> Off

That's needlessly obtuse however.

I'm not referring to just turning off repeat, I'm referring to having the player play a single track and then stopping.

Long press to enter the context menu >> Current Playlist >> Clear List & Play Next

This method seems quite clear to me.  Pros/cons of a playback method?  The current method achieves the "play once" outcome without any persistent changes to settings, which I think is cleaner.

Alas, no "Clear playlist" option seems to exist.

Alas, no "Clear playlist" option seems to exist.
The terminology has changed slightly since the post above yours (see the current version of the manual). What used to be called "Clear List & Play Next" for a while (and "Play Next" in 3.15) is just called "Play" now.

So, to replace all entries in the dynamic playlist with the selected track(s) choose:

Latest Dev Build: Playing Next... -> Play

or, in case you're still using, v. 3.15: Playlist -> Play Next

from the context menu
