I just thought it would be neat on boot to see “recently played” to remind the user of the current playlist.
Yes, I also think that would be cool. A possible solution for that might be to have a new setting with which the user could specify that the WPS start screen should open in a Pause state rather than a Play state.
I'm working on a suggestion/proposal for a slight re-working of the naming and related mechanism of the Resume Playback item in the Main Menu based on whether or not there is a current playlist while in the Stop state. This would eliminate the need to query the user as to whether or not they want to replay a previously finished playlist and instead maybe just inform them when there is no current playlist to resume (replay). I think the recent change to that mechanism is a big improvement, but it seems awkward to have a menu item named "Resume Playback" that has to query the user when it gets selected. When the player is in the Stop state and a current playlist exists but has finished playing, perhaps the menu item should be named something that suggests replaying the previously played playlist. Anyway, that's what I've been thinking about and working up a proposal for.
