bootloader question
« on: July 20, 2006, 08:58:56 AM »
This note is found on main H300 page:
Quote
Known issues
H300:
Still starts the iriver firmware when plugging in the charger (this is intentional until the charging code is updated for h300)

To developers:
Do you plan to change it in a near future to load rockbox?

I think it is an important feature for people using player in cars. Like in my car, when I turn on the key it powers the cigarette lighter so Iriver turns on with original firmware, and I always have to shut it down to reload rockbox. With this problem the 'car adapter mode' is half useless because it cannot start where it stopped automatically. When I had Archos it was so, and I could leave the player untouched for weeks, which was very nice.

Feature request while this thread is here:

Could the Bootloader USB mode get a battery level indicator?

And as a side note, the tracker doesn't have a Bootloader Category.

Yes, that's a good idea.

Now it has. :-)

This may be overdoing it, but a hard drive activity indicator may be a good idea for the H3x0 just because of the fact that the hardware itself does not have one...

many of the new WPS's include an activity light, and if you look on the WPS page on rockbox, there is code there if you want to create your own with a virtual light......

Yes... But I do believe they are talking about the bootloader USB mode, and there you can't see your WPS.

I'm just being nit-picky now but shouldn't "bootloader" be the second category listed?   :-\

It was a thought, so I thought I would mention it.

Is there anything happening with this?

The nearest I could find was this patch,
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9202?pagenum=3

but given the user just uncommented the code – there may be other issues I don’t want hiding there that could do damage...  ??? (like continual charging of the battery even when its full)
