So the Hosted port and the Native port are completely separate, and use separate builds. They install onto the SD card in the exact same way, however. You do not need to do anything about update files or flashing at all to update Rockbox.

So when you boot your player, does it go directly into Rockbox, or do you need to select between Rockbox and Hiby Player (I think that's what its called in the menu)?

I'm just trying to understand exactly what is installed on your player.

Sorry, I didn't notice your reply went to a new page ;)  so I didn't reply sooner.

When I boot my player it goes directly into Rockbox.  I had installed the Native port method last week.

EDIT: OK I think I got it installed properly now.  I downloaded the link to the latest native build here:  https://download.rockbox.org/daily/erosqnative/rockbox-erosqnative.zip.  If I use the latest daily build link instead then the install gives me that earlier error.

I confirmed I have the latest by going into the Rockbox 'System' menu and 'Rockbox info', and it says I got the April 2 2025 build.

However, some of the games have not been fixed.  I still can't move around in the Space Invaders game. I can move in the Maze game though.

Hello all,

I need some help, today I installed on the Surfans F20 the rockbox using

https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/AIGOErosQK#Native_Port_Installation_40update_files_45_the_preferred_way_41

my surfans came with version firmware 3.0 so I used hw3 file and renamed the file to update and added the daily for the native Aigo Eros Native zip file that contains the .rockbox folder, I did the update and rebooted and rockbox was loaded but the screen is inverted.

I'm freaking out and i don't find how to fixed , I had to get a mirror and just use the buttons to read the interface. I'm screwed? what are my options to fix this or return to the native firmware? i want to use rockbox though.

Well, that is certainly an odd duck then. According to what we know, all Surfans F20 V3.0 units are hw3, but maybe you got a weird in-between unit with the old display. We can get that fixed one way or another.

  • Just to confirm, you used this file --> https://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/aigo/native/erosqnative-hw3-erosq.upt
  • And if you boot into rockbox, and, mirror in hand, go to System --> Debug --> Device Data, what does that screen say? It should have Hardware Revision, Struct Ver.,  and the raw data bytes.

We'll get to the bottom of it, and worst case scenario yeah you can always put it back and send it back if you want. But we can get it going I'm sure.

Ok, good to know. Glad we got that cleared up, and I'll take a look at the button mapping when I have some time.

I appreciate your helpfulness.  BTW I also tried out Doom (wow!), and some of the buttons actually work, including going forward and changing weapons and firing.  But there is no left/right movement which I think would be best suited with the scroll wheel.

On my H2 v1.6 Hosted installation both Duke Nukem and Quake crash the OS with a segfault. Doom works fine except for the right/left controls mentioned above.

Does anyone know of a good replacement for the Hifi Walker h2 screen protector?  Mine is coming off.  I see them on Amazon, but I don't trust them due to the reviews.

I've been eyeing the Surfans F20, specifically the V3.4 / hw4 version for the IPS display and proper support for USB C-to-C cable. I'd rather not support amazon if possible and it's apparently not available for shipping here from ali.
Does anyone know if sunfans.net is legit, and if they are selling the most recent revision?

(I tried searching around both the forums here and a fair bit of googling and couldn't find much, but if this has come up before and I missed it I apologise in advance.)
