Whoops , my experience with Gerrit is nearly zero.... (IT Service and Linux / Electronics, not a experienced Developer )
It's basically impossible to completely brick these players.Did you follow the JztoolInstall instructions that 7o9 linked?Follow those instructions to boot the player off of USB. From there you should be able to get into the original firmware and do an update. The process is summed up by:You will hold menu and power to put the device into usbboot mode. Then you will plug in usb. Then you will run the relevant jztool command (see the jztoolinstall page linked) to temporarily send the bootloader to the device. From there, you can boot into the original firmware to try the update with either the stock firmware update file or the rockbox patched update file.

Now on each boot I for some reason get an error saying: "Error loading rockbox, file not found". But anyway I can choose both rockbox and default firmware. I've yet to find a community this helpful and answering questions so fast. Thank you!

I've yet to find a community this helpful and answering questions so fast. Thank you!Ok, sounds like progress. When you boot it, does it show an image and let you select rockbox or the original firmware?Or does it just go right to "no .rockbox found"?If the first, you'll need to extract the .rockbox folder from this zip file onto the root of your sd card: https://download.rockbox.org/daily/aigoerosq/rockbox-aigoerosq-20240727.zipIf the second, you'll need to extract the .rockbox folder from this different zip file onto the root of your sd card: https://download.rockbox.org/daily/erosqnative/rockbox-erosqnative-20240727.zipeither way, you should end up with a .rockbox folder on the root of your sd card.In the second case, you are using the "Native" port. In this case, we may need to reformat your sd card. Usually they come with "exFAT". The Native port can't handle this, we'll need to reformat your card to just regular FAT. Not a big deal, but its just an extra step we'll have to do if you haven't alrwady done that. Ignore this if the first case above is true. We're just about there!
hi everyone. thanks a lot for these efforts. i wanted to ask; why the hosted port doesn't need a backup with jztool but the native one does? also, is there any benefit of using the native port? i'm just trying to understand a little more about the software here. thank you!!
