Sounds like you installed the hosted version rather than the native version - try this one: https://download.rockbox.org/daily/erosqnative/rockbox-erosqnative-20240510.zip

Silly mistake. Thank you very much!

One other minor thing: The bezel covers the edges of the display so that the clock, battery indicator, etc. are halfway covered. Is there any good way of solving this?

Not really that I've found other than finding a good theme you like. My player is like that as well.

Thanks, I imagined that the solution would be through a theme. Interpod is very nice, and the text size fits well with the display of the Aigo. Widepod is nice as well with the full-screen album artwork, but I feel it displays too little information on the "now playing" screen.

I had issues with Bluetooth in the Official Firmware, at a random moment, Bluetooth would no longer activate: if I tried to activate it in settings, the switch would turn ON for a while and then revert back to OFF. This happened to me in version 1.5.

I've had the DAP for a year, and beyond issues with Bluetooth (for example, having to connect Bluetooth repeatedly at many startups until it worked properly), I hadn't experienced anything as 'serious' as Bluetooth not working at all.

During this year, the errors have been:

  • The device connects via Bluetooth but there is no sound at all, requiring Bluetooth to be reconnected several times.
  • The device doesn't even connect, giving a connection error. The only solution was to restart.
  • The device connects but the sound is as if it were high-pitched, especially noticeable in songs with vocals.

Simply updating the Official Firmware was enough to get it working again. I'm not sure if the other errors mentioned earlier have disappeared, but at least now the Bluetooth is working again. I'm leaving here the official updates for the HiFi Walker H2 that I found in case it might be useful to someone else, all them are provided by Hifiwalker itself by Google Drive.

Information that might be relevant for the wiki (or not): Versions 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 are exclusive to the HiFi Walker H2 that used MicroUSB. Version 1.4 is exclusive to the HiFi Walker H2 that used MicroUSB and utilized a modified power supply circuit (this can be updated to version 1.5 according to some notes, but I'm unsure if it could be updated further).

The HiFi Walker H2 with USB Type-C cannot downgrade to version 1.4, only to version 1.5 or higher.

To check the current version, you need to go to System Settings -> About the Player -> Version.
To update you should rename the chosen file to 'update.upt' and place it in the root directory of the MicroSD card. Then, you need to go to System Settings -> Firmware Update -> YES.

Moreover, with the above information, the pre-patched versions that are missing could be added to the wiki. In the wiki, the pre-patched versions missing are: 1.1, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8

IMPORTANT: Currently, Hifiwalker doesn't recommend updating to 1.8 unless you are coming directly from 1.7. I tried updating from 1.6 to 1.8 and after a while, I experienced graphical errors in the Official Firmware (inverted colors and inverted letters), fixed by downgrading to 1.6.

I found a Theme Editor Tool (for Microsoft Windows, maybe it works with Wine) and it's also a official firmware decompression tool, maybe it's useful for achieve Bluetooth in Rockbox for HiFi Walker H2? Anyway:
It was found in: http://www.eroshifi.com/en/download/firmware/31.html
Specifically in: http://www.eroshifi.com/upload/fw/EROS_Q_ThemeTools.zip

I have a problem with this player that I worry might mean that I got a defective unit. If I plug headphones in all the way, I only get sound on the left ear. I have to pull them almost all the way out to get sound on both ears. I tested with the original firmware, and this was the case there as well. Has anyone else experienced this?

Official Firmware 1.7 (HiFi Walker H2 with USB Type-C): not found yet

Thanks for hunting all of these down.  I intend to regenerate a pre-patched image for every known device+firmware combo, and also update the wiki page to make it clear that you should *NOT* upgrade/downgrade firmware other than the handful of scenarios you've listed.

Now if only we could get an equivalent list for all of the Surfans F20 versions too.  At this point I only have the v2.5 and v2.7 images, needing everything else (notably including v2.2 and v3.0)  Unfortunately hifiwalker pulled updates off their web site, and they weren't archived at the wayback machine...

I'm gonna go ahead and post it in this thread as well,
I received an aigo eros q
Do you have the internal photo of full board? Can you make the photo of the board in high resolution?
Edit: nevermind, I've found the photos https://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,53601.msg248705.html#msg248705 from @dconrad
Probably those photos have to be on Wiki page https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/AIGOErosQK

I solved this problem, turns out I was just being dumb. I thought the headphones were all the way plugged in, but they just required a bit more force to be fully plugged in. Works beautifully now.

Has anyone found a sports armband that fits this player well? I'm thinking maybe one for the iPod Classic might be alright, even though the AIGO is a bit smaller.

Yeah, I thought I had the same issue. Then I figured out you need to push it in, until it 'clicks'.

I just got a surfans unit with v3.1, would be happy to provide the image/whatever else needed if you tell me how.

Also, is there any way to reduce the actual hardware gain? I kinda hate using really sensitive iems because of the hiss.
Harder to notice on stock firmware though, the audio probably completely turns off unless there's music playing.

I just got an AIGO EROS Q and tried to install the native port on it. Bootloader backup and installation went well, but I am unable to boot into Rockbox. I get the message "Error loading Rockbox. File not found."

The SD card is inserted, formatted with MBR and FAT32. I unzipped rockbox-aigoerosq-20240510.zip to the root of the SD card (.rockbox is there right next to bootloader.erosq and erosqnative-boot.bin). What I am missing?

You are using a nightly build.  That won't work on the native port.

Try this.

https://build.rockbox.org/data/rockbox-erosqnative.zip

That link will always have the latest native build.

As of about a week ago, there is a nightly build (including a set of pre-generated voice files) for the native port as well as the hosted port.

My apologies. I wasn't aware!  Oh wow!  I didn't see that.  So, can we use the utility now?

Do you mean when something is playing, or when nothing is playing? Are you using the native or hosted port? If the native, could you do me a favor and go to System --> Debug --> View HW info --> Audio and tell me whether it says HWVOL or SWVOL? I'm just curious which method is being used.

I believe the hosted port should be using hw volume scaling inherently, and the native port should also be using the hw volume scaling unless they've changed the DAC on us again.
