This is very peculiar. Are the files still deleted if you do not initialize/update the database?
Yes it seems like even if i add files and don't initialize them, if i turn it off and then back on they are gone as well.
These are the steps I took:
- Plugged it in to the computer (it goes into usb keypad mode:multimedia)
- dragged two albums over to it in a folder I made called "Music" i the root of the drive (so not inside the ".rockbox" folder). Strangely the Music folder hasn't gotten deleted.
- Checking properties for the iPod it says it has 497gb available, I checked it in WinDirStat and I don't see the old music files hiding anywhere, and the other rockbox files still seem to be there (doom, fonts, codecs, etc)
- Ejected it from my computer, unplugged the cord
- As soon as I unplug it rockbox goes to the main menu (but seems to skip the start up screen, like it was already running)
- When I go to files, I see the albums there, but trying to select a song it says, "Erase Dynamic Playlist? Select=Yes Any Other=NO - I assume this is because I have not initialized it?
- I held the play button until it says shutting down
- left it off for about 20 seconds, hit middle button to turn it on
- Apple logo shows up followed by the Rockbox Boot screen
- When i go to files>music it is empty again.
Edit: Actually now its not giving me the option to initialize at all. When I add music i can only choose the "erase dynmaic playlist" option, which then seems to let me play the songs??
Maybe I need to try installing rockbox from scratch again?
