Battery starting at 0% then filling back up on startup.

I just recently picked up an iPod 5.5G and put rockbox on it. Whenever I boot into rockbox the battery starts drained and quickly fills back up to the actual capacity. If I boot into the original OS the battery starts dead and it quickly crashes (not dying). How can I fix this?
