48KHz Due to Hardware limitations?
akg:
What about when I use my MicroDAC (24/96) through optical? Does RB allow 48khz to passthru or does it automatically resample?
Thanks!!

The digital I/O is not restricted as the A/D converter. :) With the current firmware you can correctly record samplerates higher than 44.1 but the WAV header will probably wrongly contain 44.1 kHz. AFAIK playback of samplerates higher than 44.1 without resampling is not possible with the current firmware. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Its not possible without essentially redesigning a large portion of the board, and then writing new software drivers. You'd probably have an easier time porting Rockbox to a player that already has 48k output support in hardware.
Any reason you want 48k btw?
