48KHz Due to Hardware limitations?

(1/2) > >>

Shindig:
Seeing as how the hadrware limits this player to 44.1 KHz analog sampling rate, does anyone know exactly what part is the culprit? I'd be interested in finding out and trying a hardware mod with an improved chip if need be.

pabouk:
H100s use UDA1380 A/D and D/A converter. It can operate in two clock modes - direct sample rate input (WSI) or system clock (SYSCLK). AFAIK H100s use only the WSI signal generated with limitations by the Coldfire CPU. See also the schematics.

XavierGr:
I really doubt that you can make a mod and play real 48khz files.
Even if you manage to change the hardware that is involved, it is almost certain that you will have to write your own driver for it. (if the new hardware can match the PCB board)

akg:
I ripped 48khz files off a dvd and I'm able to play them.  ???  I can play them using my dac through optical and through the headphone out of the player.  I wonder why?

Because Rockbox resamples them to 44.1KHz.
