Sansa Clip+ USB problems
« on: June 17, 2020, 03:14:07 PM »
I have Rockbox 3.13 on my Sansa Clip+. It has a 32GB microSD card. I think I've had it for about 2-3 years.

Recently I've been completely unable to get the player recognised by my laptop. Both drives show up briefly in This PC, but the little bar showing capacity under each drive never shows up and I'm unable to open up either of the drives. Soon both drives disappear and I see an error saying that the device wasn't recognised.

Occasionally I can get the microSD card to show up, but never the Clip+ itself. Oddly enough, if I set Rockbox to hide the internal drive, I can reliably get the microSD card to show up by itself. This leads me to think that it's an issue with the Clip+ itself.

I don't know if it's a Rockbox or a Clip+ hardware issue. I've also been experiencing other issues with this player lately (music suddenly stops and the whole player freezes, requiring a reset) which leads me to suspect that the player is just getting old. Since the Clip+ has been discontinued and the new Sansa players don't appear to be compatible with Rockbox, that would be very sad. ):

Has anyone encountered anything like this? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I could be a problem with the internal memory. What happens if you try a different microSD card?

That is an old release. You need to update to a new release as soon as possible to get boot from sd card support, then if you flash is dying there is a good chance you can still use your player. I believe that the new multi boot feature is included in release 3.15

edit ... Almost forgot, most important, you need to be on the latest bootloader as well!
