[SANSA Clip+] Stuck on Boot 4.0 screen, OF stuck on flower logo. What do I do?

Hello all,

Preface: I bought this lovely li'l thing a few years back. So, I'm not the one who installed Rockbox, and honestly I still have no clue how this works.

As the title said, my Sansa Clip+ is stuck on the Boot 4.0 screen and it's been stuck like that for maybe 2 years now.
I honestly don't know how to fix it. I'd love for this player to work again. I only have a Win10 computer, and basic computer knowledge.

If someone could walk me through this, please :~( ...

Things I did:
1. Plug into the computer. No device shows up, if it does, it's unrecognized.
2. Hold select/left button + power, plug in
    > Sansa and the flower logo comes on, goes to black screen quick,
    > then the logos come on again, and get stuck on the flower logo. PC still does not recognize it
3. Got the RockboxUtility.exe, no devices.
4. Scour the internet for answers.
5. Left it alone for 2 years. LOL. I thought maybe it would magically fix it. Spoiler alert: it didn't.

The poor thing still turns on and charges. It's just stuck on the boot screen.


Help. Please be a beacon of light, a ray of hope, and guide me in the hopes of reviving my player.

Generally that is a sign that the flash has gotten corrupted

It seems that the flash usually goes readonly and its basically a brick

Sometimes copying a new image over the corrupted data works (for a while)

If you can get data copied back to it you can use the new bootloader that runs rockbox off the sdcard

• You will need to take the player apart to short two pins to get it into recovery mode
• You'll need at the very least a Linux Live CD

Windows is not the tool for the job

I don't think I could do all of that alone. But thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I'll read up on those. As long as it's fixable.
