Adding "Initialize Database" to Shortcuts

I've been through the Manual, read Appendix E, and can't work out how to do this. Is there a way?

Why do you want to initialize database each time? This is a long process as I noted in my own post I am trying to avoid. Did you mean Update Now to add to shortcuts? Usually holding select shows Add to Shortcuts for all the items which can be added.

Because merely updating does not seem to work correctly on my Sansa Fuze+, I've tried it.
