LRC Lyrics player - mod to enable manual scroll?

I have embedded lyrics on most of my mp3 files but they are not in LRC format. (Not sure where can one get access to this database. Obviously Amazon music is using it but I have not been able to find)

In Apple iPod mode, you can scroll the lyrics with the clickwheel and I miss that functionality in Rockbox.

The LRC player estimates position based on timestamp but I do not know how to begin modifying the plug in.

I am sure we are past being able to request a feature for this plugin, but if someone would know how to add a flag to enable manual scroll mode or something that would be amazing.

Any ideas where to begin on this? Thanks!
