Hi,
I've been using Rockbox since 2005 on some Iriver devices before moving to Sansa Clip/Clip plus/Clip zip. It's been a great chance being able to use Rockbox features, I never went back to the original firmware. So I take the opportunity to send a huge thank for all the people spending hours on such a project and keeping it alive and solid.
One of the function I really appreciate with Rockbox is the ability to switch shuffle off and on with the player in the pocket without looking at the screen. It's not as easy as it can be with an ipod shuffle or the AGPTek G02 (both have no screen but a dedicated shuffle switch) but a very simple key combination (1 long press + 1 press) allows to do so. What I like to do is to add all songs to a playlist, play shuffled, then stop on a song, switch shuffle off, let the album play, turn shuffle on again etc... As already posted by a lot of Rockbox enthusiasts on these forum threads, it would be really nice to see one hw designer proposing a rockbox compatible sansa clip like player.
For when my Sansa Clip will stop working, I wanted to ask here if anyone had a good suggestion of a player that features an easy shuffle on/off switching, would be really useful. I tried several cheap models from amazon, they were not so bad but had to return them because they all had a limitation ~4000 song max per playlist (either using the native database function or generating playlist on the computer).
Bye !
Lionel
