How to use Rockbox without mp3 connected

(1/2) > >>

KrisRisk:
Hello All,

I am new to the forum and happy to meet you. I need to use Rockbox without any mp3 connected to computer. The reason is I only need to create talk files. Unfortunately I am not able to do it, since the mountpoint is unknown (sure is, no mp3 connected via USB). Can you please guide me how to do it?

You can do it using the Rockbox Utility.

bluebrother:
You can trick Rockbox Utility by connecting a USB drive and using that instead.

By Rockbox I actually meant the Rockbox Utility. What more, I plugged USB drive in, still Utility software does not let me to select device mounting point, nor sees any drive. Are there any other ideas or work-arounds? Your help is much appreciated.

You've run into the same bug I have, I'd thought it was some weirdness on my end.

My workaround is closing the Utility, changing the mountpoint line in the configuration file with a text editor, then running Utility again.
Unfortunately this persists only until connecting the DAP to the Utility for updating the firmware, it will reset to the DAP mountpoint when that happens.

In Linux the config file is ~/.config/rockbox.org/RockboxUtility.ini

In Windows it's probably somewhere in AppData/Roaming or Local or whatever the user config folder equivalent is there.
