Clip+ Battery Stats

(1/1)

lazy:
I've since retired my clip+ unfortunately, but it's still functional, and I had some free time, and saw an update so I fired it up.
I have some battery stats that I thought was very interesting, honestly, I wanted to post this back when there was that crazy rockbox optimizing update for the clip+ that almost doubled the battery life, but I forgot to.
Anyways, I thought I would share my battery stats.

To summarize:
June 2010 - early stages of clip+ development, was a huge fan of what was done with the sansa c200v2, which I still have. If memory serves me correctly, I got the clip+ shortly after I found out the clip+ was rockbox-able. The battery life should still be of like new condition, and it would be safe to say that 14ish hours was FULL battery life with little to no battery degradation.

Oct 2017 - I've been using this mp3 player almost every weekday as a daily driver, around 2 hours of usage each day when I did use it. As you can see from the recorded times, battery degraded to almost half the capacity. This was when that crazy optimization happened. Skeptical of these calms, I did a battery bench right before I optimized update. Full run time around 7.5 hours.

Oct 2017 - Post update, almost DOUBLE the battery life, nearly 18 hours of playtime. LITERALLY breathed new life into this mp3 player (not even an understatement here). Since I use the player for 2 hours a day, I could get away with charging it once a week, whereas before, once every few days. Devs weren't kidding with the doubling battery life statement.
Rockbox 3.14 - Est Time Left 24:46:00 , Recorded time 17:50:45

Makes you think, a clip+ with a fresh battery potentially pull off nearly 36 hours on a single charge with rockbox.
Unfortunately, my clip+ is collecting dust, going to try to remember to occasionally charge it up so it doesn't completely brick on me.
Lastly, I can't believe that it's been 10 years... and clip+ with rockbox is undoubtedly THE best mp3 player I've ever owned (and likely will every own).
I got scammed with one of the clip+ lookalike clones, which I got because it was really close formfactor wise.
After that whole headache and 50 or 60$ down the drain, I swore that the next mp3 player I'd get, I'll do more research on before buying.
To anyone who's looking for hands down, the best spiritual successor to the clip+, you should check out Shanling m0. It's super feature rich, but the software is definitely lacking.

If anyone is good with numbers and graphs, I invite you to use my battery stats to create a nice visualization of the data.

Big nostalgia trip on this post. Thanks for the hard work to the rockbox devs.
