iPod Classic model indication & RockBox Utility
saratoga:
I thought saying that you could use the Apple firmware to copy files was pretty clear :)
But what I meant was reboot into the Apple firmware, plug the device into your USB port, and then copy files to it using the software or operating system of your choice.
rox:
Yeah, i know that i still have a choice to use original Apple firmware and iTunes to copy the files (instead of Rockbox) ;D
But it sounded to me that i can boot in original Apple firmware while i have Rockbox on my iPod. So is dual boot possible i.e. is it possible to boot in original Apple firmware on the Rockboxed iPod? If so, how?
Sorry for my questioning about that, but i am not an Rockbox expert;) I did not touch Rockbox setup on my iPod Classic for 6 years.
Frankenpod:
Dual boot is possible, if you follow the instructions for installing with the current install utility.
But it won't help much if you are using a 6th gen and more than 128gb, as when in OF mode you won't have access to the whole drive.
You have to either use a different model of ipod, stick to 128gb, or (if you are lucky) never boot into OF mode and hope you can get away with syncing in rockbox mode (as some people apparently have managed to do - though I think they are a minority and just got lucky).
