ipod won't boot
« on: July 15, 2006, 06:24:47 PM »
I installed the rockbox firmware successfully, and was playing around with it for a while. After restarting the nano several times I decided to upload a folder of music onto the player. While this was happening the usb connection came loose from the back of my laptop and a picture of a battery flashed up on the ipod screen. The nano then turned itself off and has seemed to be dead since.
I'm not convinced this is a bootloader/firmware problem as everything had been working fine initially. Is this a fair assumption?
If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

Plug the iPod into your computer.

Hold Menu and Select until something happened. It may seem to take longer than it should (10-20 seconds).

Thanks for that, it seems to be fixed now. I had read that trick, but as you say, I wasn't holding the buttons down for long enough.
Thanks again.

ek3ekytopa: Please describe what exactly is happening with yours? Any error message, or just nothing showing on screen, or what?

Leave it plugged into your computer for about an hour. If nothing is showing on screen then, while still plugged into your computer, hold menu and select down. DO NOT WIGGLE YOUR FINGER. If you accidentally cause scrolls, it may not work.

It's not done yet. If you actually read all the information, it has not yet been released for iPod, so as a tester you should expect bugs in its current state.

When you remove it from the computer, you should "eject" it first.
If the icon is showing, hold menu and select to reboot it.
