Sync with iTunes while in Rockbox OS?
Warphine:
Yeah, I know that, thanks. My computer spent all day yesterday (about 18 hours) copying all my files to the hard drive in a drag-and-drop manner so I'm already on my way to having this thing up and running again.
That's awesome about MM. Sounds like I might need to look into switching over to that. I used to use it waaaay back in the day.
You are always very helpful. Thank you for your time.
Warphine:
Good news! The playlists exported from iTunes using the iTunes GUI work on Rockbox as is, even with the absolute path.

Yeah, it takes **&&*!!! ages to copy a full library across. Not far off 24 hours. If only they'd invented USB3 much earlier.
If you aren't doing so already, and assuming you use a windows PC, I suggest using a robocopy script for copying/updating music on the ipod.
I feel like I might as well have stuck with iTunes. I switched to MM because (a) iTunes had so many annoying bugs, and (b) it would only sync in that stupid iTunes style. But then MM turned out to have just as many bugs, and I switched to using robocopy anyway, so there really wasn't much point.
Warphine:
I normally use a free program called "Karen's Replicator" for keeping an exact copy of certain important folders/files on multiple hard drives.
Now that I'm using drag-and-drop, it was only natural for me to add a few jobs to this program to run on schedule to copy music, playlist, and database files to my iPod automatically.
If only I could write a script to automate these processes I'd be set!
- Run "Copy Music to iPod" job using Karen's Replicator
- Export Playlists from iTunes to a folder
- Run "Copy Playlists to iPod" job using Karen's Replicator
- Run "Update Now" database option within Rockbox GUI on PC.
- Close and Reboot Rockbox GUI on PC to Finish Database Setup.
- Run "Copy Rockbox Files to iPod" job using Karen's Replicator
