iPod 5g Database Limits
A Black Fella:
Hey,
I have a 5g iPod (32mb RAM) with an iFlash quad adapter for 800gb total storage. Rockbox won't populate the database with more than a few hundred artists, but all of them are viewable in the onboard file browser. Tired toggling pretty much everything but no luck. Is there just a really low database ceiling for entries?
Thanks in advance,
TJ

Could be the usual problem with iflash mods and disk-writes. That makes building the database very flakey on 6/7th gen (hence many build database on the PC instead) - though I'm not sure if it is also an issue on 5th gen. I presume you've tried deleting all the database files and rebuilding it from scratch? If not, it's possible it's just your first attempt failed and hence you have an incomplete database.
A Black Fella:
hey man, thanks for the reply- I tried the "initialize database" command in settings, which it does appear to accept. However, didn't appear to fix the issue.. how could I go about rebuilding the database on PC?

Frankenpod:
Before initialising the database it's a good idea to connect to the computer and fully delete the old database files (via explorer). Sometimes initializing on its own fails to remove the existing corrupted database.
Building database on PC takes a bit of explaining, haven't the energy right now. I think it might have been described on here before, if you can manage to get the search function to work. Still not certain that it's necessary for 5th gen, I thought those behaved better with flash mods than later models do.
