problem with tagcache on ipod
(1/1)
loop_:
Hi,
I have about 2000+ alac files encoded to itunes from my ipod. So far, all that i've tried can play. But there are some major problems
1) After fully updating tagcache, all files can be seen from the album tag. However, some genres such as jazz, classical, rock and pop don't show. I'm only getting alternative and punk, new age and some others.
2) Also, I don't see any files in the composers tag, although i did a careful labling with itunes so as to use it to scroll through my classical songs.
3) For some songs, during playback, the song will automatically pause for about 1 second and continue again. During this time, the disc icon at the top right hand side will show briefly, but i'm not updating the tagcache or anything. why?
Please help, Thanks
Llorean:
1) It's possible that some preset genres don't get registered, as I seem to recall the MP4 format having some predefined genres. I'm not wholly sure, I just know our MP4 parser is not perfect yet.
2) iTunes saves the "composer" in the "writer" tag for some reason. There is debate as to whether we should simply use the writer tag for MP4 songs. My feeling is that we should use the composer tag only, as the writer tag can often refer to the author of an audiobook, etc.
3) Because it's reading the disc? Set the anti-skip buffer a little higher. The estimation of how much is left in the buffer doesn't work well for VBR formats, and can result in the PCM buffer emptying during the disk spinup time while refilling the buffer.
