Since I use my Arcos every day I bought Super.fi 5 Pro earbuds. With these, I get a buzz that that I don't get with my former Koss earbuds. I also hear hard drive noise that was not there before.
Is there some way to quiet the Rockbox?
Is this just my unit?

Call me a masochist, but I've got 4 AJBR's and they all have noise - from a high pitch whine from the hard drive to just a general annoying hiss.

I bought a pair of Westone UM1's and the noise is even worse, probably due to using better quality cans.

Even though the AJBR's are a brick, it's the only thing that annoys me about them.

Cheers,

If you think the hiss on the AJBR is bad, you should try an iPod, or an iRiver. In that order. The AJBR has what I'd describe as a faint hiss. With certain earphones, the iRiver's hiss is louder than my preferred listening level when I'm drifting off to sleep.

Sheeesh!

I was going to buy an iPod because I'd read that hiss was non-existant, especially the 5th generation ones.

Thanks for the heads-up Llorean.

I haven't tried a 5th gen iPod. Just the Nano, which is different hardware (same as the photo I believe.)

The hiss on that is quite faint. Quieter than the sound when the disk spins up on an AJBRv1, but louder than the normal background noise for it.

Oddly enough, the quietest gadget I've got this very moment is a PSP. I haven't tried my cellphone yet, because I don't have an appropriate plug adapter.
