Is Rockbox on Clip+ draining the battery on USB power?

(1/2) > >>

palik4:
I noticed that Rockbox handles it differently when the battery is charging and when it's fully charged.

Under Debug -> View battery I see the following while charging.

--- Code: ---Charger: present
State: Charging
CHARGER: 2C
--- End code ---

After charging finishes, I see the following when it's charged.

--- Code: ---Charger: present
State: Discharging
CHARGER: 81
--- End code ---

However charge level is not changing, stays at 100%. Is the battery used (drained and then recharged immediately) on Sansa Clip+ after charging? Or is it kept completely idle while the USB charging voltage is present?

So if I want to save some battery lifetime by not draining it too many times, can I do it by using it from USB power every time when possible?

Bilgus:
it has a timeout so it hits 100% stays for awhile shuts off charging drains a bit charges again hits 100% shuts off charging drains a bit; Rinse Repeat

Bilgus:
If you wanted to save battery lifetime really you would make it charge only to 75-ish % but you'd have toi patch firmware for that

palik4:
Can I completely disable charging manually and force my Sansa Clip+ to use only the power from USB (e.g. from the debug menu while on USB power)?

Bilgus:
No, not without patching the firmware
