Playback stuttering after using FM Radio on iRiver H320 with CF card

After some initial headache, I have my H320 operating with a Lexar CF card attached to a IDE adapter but after using the FM radio when I go back to playing music from the device it skips severely, the player has difficulty navigating the menu, it is very odd behavior, any ideas? A reboot fixes it every time but I don't want to have to shutdown whenever I'm done listening to the radio and I want to go back to my music.

If instead of rebooting you use the fuile browser to navigate yo the .rockbox folder and (re-)run the firmware does it fix it as well?

It doesn't appear that I have the ability to do that - in my file browser it does not have the .rockbox folder.

long press file menu from main you should see the File View menu
scroll down to Show Files select All

Main Menu>Files(LONGPRESS)>Show Files>All

exit the menus and shortpress Files and then you should have the .rockbox folder

inside the folder is a file named rockbox.h320 (pretty sure thats the extension for your player..)

run that file and it should ROLO rockbox to a clean state

Doing that does fix the problem but whenever I go back into the FM radio context menu (with region, preset, clear presets etc) it has the same behavior, the whole player becomes unresponsive, navigating through the menus is very slow and troublesome, it doesn't recognize some button presses, it's just a total pain.

ok so this sounds like it is a memory corruption issue then not a hardware issue

Are you using the latest dev version, have you tried any other version 3.14, 3.13?

I'm using ver 13245ebf76-190914 ... I have been trying to uninstall it and do a clean install but the rockbox utility cannot remove the bootloader and I cannot use the original firmware any longer due to the CF card mod. I even tried uninstalling rockbox and reinstalling it while leaving the bootloader alone so I'm thinking that's the problem. Is it possible to flash a firmware on this player without the original firmware?

after the device boots the bootloader has no code associated with the running firmware

You are using a pretty new dev version so just download 3.14 and or 3.13 and rename the current .rockbox folder and copy it to the player from the zip file maybe it has been introduced recently and that will make it easier to figure out what is happening

If 3.14 & 3.13 has the issue as well it will most likely require 'someone' with the device to do some investigation / coding

I've narrowed it down to my theme actually, AW140 is not playing nicely for some reason.

Ugh the theme engine is not a place I like to debug very much

There have been some bugs fixed in the last 6 months or so that deal with themes could you try 3.14 and see if your theme still causes the issue there as well?
