In what way unusable?  I assume that it works the same as on my old Clip+ in that pressing and holding FF means it starts off slowly then gets faster and faster so very quick to get through a multi-hour file.

thats how it should work, as it does on my iaudio x5. but instead it moves upto a few sec then stops and get stuck and never speeds up or fast forwards anymore. like it reaches a buffer limit or something???

@fossphile have you tried the solution I suggested earlier in the forum "If you go into "Playback Settings > Fast Forward / Rewind > FF/RW Accel" and change it to 'Very fast', long pressing to fastforward/rewind works."

Hi all,

I had Rockbox installed in my M3k with firmware v1.4.3. I have two quick questions.

1. To turn off the screen, I have to hold the power button for a few seconds. Is there an option that I can turn it off immediately after I push the button?

2. After turning off the screen, most of the physical buttons (stop/play, volume up & down buttons) are locked. Can they be not locked when the screen is off?

Thank you very much!

Hi Folks...  I'm a little late to the show here ... Just got an mk3 ...   quick .... is there a wiki on instalation and is it a dual boot instalation?   or do I loose my stock firmware?  That said,  do DSF files play n the current build?

Thanks

Tim

It is dualboot firmware.
Installation is simple and no different from installing the factory firmware.

How do you get car play to work? Goes right to charging when ignition turned on and rockbox boots. Same issue with the Agptek Rocker.

I have a brand new Fiio M3k, purchased when my old SanDisk Clip+ (with rockbox) died.  For a few days I tried to use the stock (non-rockbox) firmware, but found it lacking.  Needless to say I was thrilled to find a rockbox port!

One problem, which has been reported by others: FF/RW doesn't work, at least not with rockbox M3k firmware 1.4.3.  Does anyone know whether reverting to one of the 1.3.0 versions will remedy this?  I did find similar reports on this forum and a suggestion to change "FW/RW Accel" to "Very Fast" in playback settings, which I did, but the problem remains.  Any other suggestions?

If it helps, Pressing/holding either FF or RW flashes the associated icon on the playback screen very rapidly, but does not change the track position at all.

Thank you so much for this port. I was so frustrated with the M3K's terrible UI that I was ready to sell it... then I saw Rockbox is here!

I'd just like to report the same FF/REW bug that others are reporting - they don't work, even after adjusting speed to Ultra Fast etc.

Regardless, I will be using this going forward - thank you so much!

I answered my own question via experimentation: Reverting to M3K_v1.3.0_eef591e-190901 fixed my FW/RW problem.  Of course this means I don't get any improvements or bug fixes that might have been included in M3K_v1.4.3_e99db03-191013.zip - but so far so good.

Has anyone managed to get USB Mass storage to work on the m3k with the xvortex rockbox port?

WIth stock firmware, plugging in the device will expose the filesystem on the microSD to the OS.  With xvortex rockbox 1.4.3, its not actually working for me (although the USB icon is shown on the screen of the device
